Cody's Hurt!

Cody is limping! We noticed a couple of days ago that his right paw was bleeding - the inside toe.  We're not sure how that happened, but all the running that he loves to do is not making it any better. He's been limping and has been reluctant to do anything that would require him to put pressure on his right paw. The biggest problem is that though he's injured, he's still active...or wants to be anyways. We'll walk him and run him these next few days and force him to take it easy until it heals. Hope he doesn't destroy the house being antsy from not being off-leash and doing "real" running.

At lunch today, Cody snuck a taste of my cheesecake. I caught him in the middle of a bite, but he didn't seem that remorseful. He's certainly playing the entitled invalid pretty well.

How's Cody now that he's 3.5 yrs old?

Sorry that I haven't posted in awhile. I keep on thinking of stories that would be good for this blog...Cody and his ability to fetch/drop, update on flyball classes, Cody's transition to sleeping off the bed, his fear of being "kidnapped", meeting a baby, and his adjustment to his new home.

Today, I'll talk about how he's been lately. I never believed that this day would come. Amazingly enough, he's a much calmer Cody now. A couple of weeks ago, I took him to Mission Peak and he didn't bark at the cows or annoy any of the other hikers. Although he still barks occassionally, he's a little less nervous now.  He's become more obedient and is developing the right balance between being too energetic and being too lazy. He heels when we go on walks and hikes, and he seems to be ok with listening to orders now. The funny thing is, he doesn't seem to have that much tolerance for other energetic dogs now. He just ignores them and refuses to play with them, which I find ironic. I can totally see him being a cranky old dog that can't remember the spastic puppy that he used to be.
